Melrose High School
Strength and Conditioning Facility
In 2002 the Friends of Melrose Football (FMF) funded the construction, purchase of equipment, and provided the manpower necessary to build the 5000 square foot state of the art Melrose High School Strength and Conditioning Facility. The FMF continues to fund coaches salaries for our Strength and Conditioning coaching staff allowing the facility to remain open to all student/athletes at Melrose High School and the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School. FMF continues to purchase and upgrade the facility with state of the art Strength and Conditioning equipment. This year FMF provided eight new pieces of Hammer Strength Plate Loaded equipment and over 4000 pounds of new Iron Grip barbells.
Strength and Conditioning Coach Stephen Fogarty has implemented the Bigger, Faster, Stronger (BFS) Training System. The BFS system focuses on strengthening the entire body while at the same time increasing speed and flexibility. The BFS system unifies the conditioning programs for various sports teams and assists athletes to transition more easily from sport to sport, season to season.
“Our strength and conditioning program is the real key to the progress and development of our athletes. Two areas of importance, where strength and conditioning plays an important role in the success of our football program, are injury prevention and the development of our players” – MHS Head Football Coach Tim Morris.
